Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC)

The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) is a transformational initiative that enables Australian researchers and the eResearch community access to nationally significant, leading edge data intensive eInfrastructure, platforms, skills and collections of high-quality data.

In partnerships with organisations, we will lead facilitations that work towards a coherent research environment to enable researchers to find, access, contribute to and effectively use services to maximise research quality and impact.

At ARDC, we believe in transforming Australia together; towards an agile, interoperable and sustainable e-Research infrastructure ecosystem.

We are working with our partners to build a coherent national and collaborative research data commons. Our mission is to deliver a world-leading data advantage, facilitate accelerated innovation, foster collaboration for borderless research, and enhance researchers’ ability to translate their work into outputs for a better world.

The ARDC was formed on 1 July 2018. As a new initiative, our history is short. However, we bring to the eResearch sector over 10 years of experience on research data infrastructure and services. This is achieved by building on legacy initiatives such as the Australian National Data Service (ANDS), National eResearch Collaboration Tools and Resources (Nectar) and the Research Data Services (RDS).

We will continue to provide services that researchers and the eResearch community can rely on to create better research data outputs.
